Earlier this year, a trailer for Eddie Huangâs feature film âBoogieâ was released, revealing the late Pop Smokeâs acting debut.
The New York rapper plays the role of Monk, the main character Alfredâs rival on the basketball court. Alfred, played by Taylor Takahashi, is a Chinese American basketball player from Queens, who is juggling the pressures of school, family, a girlfriend and a basketball dream, all while being taunted by Monk.
âPop Smokeâs posthumous album âShoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moonâ, which debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 and had 2 songs in the Billboard Hot 100 top 10, had fans wanting more and it looks like Popâs estate is ready to deliver. Pop Smoke is set to release his next single âAPâ from âBoogieââs official soundtrack this Friday.
A snippet of the song on the âShoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moonâ Instagram page showcases a drill beat with a high tempo and crazy percussion, which sounds like it was made for Pop, promising to be a hit already. However, thatâs not all, as Pop Smoke is said to have a few other new songs featured on the filmâs soundtrack as well.
âBoogieâ will be coming to a screen near you on March 5th.
