âAfter announcing her retirement from the music industry, Teyana Taylor revealed that she would be taking her talents to the fashion industry as the creative director for U.K. based online fashion brand PrettyLittleThing (PLT).
Teyanaâs first collection with PLT just dropped and features multiple looks like she describes as a blend of âgirly girlâ and âtomboyâ, available from sizes 0 to 26. The colour palette for Teyanaâs debut collection features neon yellow, brown, black and metallic greys, as well as some paisley prints to give it that true 90âs feel.
Teyana also pays homage to her hometown of Harlem with this collection, having designed a fuzzy neon yellow crop top with âHarlemâ written across it, and an oversized leather varsity jacket with âNew Yorkâ stitched across the front.
When speaking on her role with PLT, Teyana told WWD that she is 100 percent hands-on and hands-in with her debut collection. She went on to say that it was âsomething that was easy for herâ, and when it was time to actually start the designs, she was excited because sheâs more of a âvintage-T and Rick Owen sweats kind of girlâ but had to think more outside the box for this collection.
âTeyana also revealed that the entire collaboration was done via virtual meetings due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which is actually pretty impressive.
