The Weeknd Seeks $1 Billion in Funding From Catalog Deal

The Weeknd aims to secure approximately $1 billion in financing through his music catalog.

If he’s successful, the transaction would be one of the largest music transaction rights of recent note.

Artists like John Legend and Justin Bieber have utilized their music catalogs to secure funding, with Bieber transferring his music rights to Blackstone-backed Hipgnosis Song Management.

Several sources said talks are ongoing with an interested private equity investor.
