Cardi B Replaces The Weeknd at Global Citizens Festival

Cardi B is replacing The Weeknd as the headliner for this weekend’s 2025 Global Citizen Festival in Central Park.

The Weeknd was scheduled to be one of the headline performers, but he expressed his regret for not being able to attend the festival due to personal reasons.

Cardi B is excited to perform at the festival and support the cause. She said, “This one is about coming together to help children around the world, and I’m so proud to support such an important cause. New York City — see you Saturday. Let’s get it!!!”

Shakira, Tyla, Ayra Starr, Mariah the Scientist, and Camilo are also scheduled to appear.

Hosted by Hugh Jackman, the spectacle will be held on the Great Lawn in Central Park, New York City.

Tickets to the Global Citizen Festival are awarded through points earned by taking actions to fight extreme poverty.

DJ Mel Boogie

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years. Known for her contributions to community and music organizations, she made history as the DJ for the 2023 JUNO Awards’ tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, sharing the stage with Canadian icons like Kardinal Offishall, Michie Mee, and Choclair in a performance watched by 2.2 million viewers nationwide.

As chair of the JUNO Rap Advisory Board, MelBoogie has worked to amplify women’s voices in the industry. She also co-founded the Black Music Brunch with Maestro Fresh Wes, an annual event celebrating contributors to Black music in Canada.
