Idris Elba appeared at a Q&A at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia for his latest directorial project, Dust To Dreams.
Elba hopes to continue directing and is working on his next feature film, This Is How It Goes, based on a 2005 Neil LaBute play.
The plot of This Is How It Goes involves a white man married to a Black woman, with a Black man entering their lives, examining marriage, trust, and race.
Elba recently finished filming it in Ghana.
Elba confirmed that he is not being cast as the next James Bond but will continue acting in another film as Detective John Luther, starting filming in February.
Elba expressed that he loves acting but finds directing allows him to exercise different creative muscles.
Despite looking to make a pivot away from acting, Elba considers acting a privilege and doesn’t see it as hard work.
