The Oklahoma City Thunder star will receive the honor in person, along with the additional 2025 award winners, at the Sportsperson of the Year Awards Ceremony next Tuesday, January 6th, at Wynn Las Vegas.

Awarded since 1954, Sports Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the Year is one of the most prestigious honors in all of sports. It’s given “to the athlete or team who best symbolizes in character and performance the ideals of sportsmanship.” Previous winners include Serena Williams, Derek Jeter, and LeBron James, among others.

DJ Mel Boogie

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years. Known for her contributions to community and music organizations, she made history as the DJ for the 2023 JUNO Awards’ tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, sharing the stage with Canadian icons like Kardinal Offishall, Michie Mee, and Choclair in a performance watched by 2.2 million viewers nationwide.

As chair of the JUNO Rap Advisory Board, MelBoogie has worked to amplify women’s voices in the industry.
