Ryan Coogler’s vampire thriller Sinners pulled off a massive upset at last night’s Actor Awards, taking home the top prize for Best Film Cast and shaking up the entire Oscar race.
Michael B. Jordan stunned the room by winning Best Lead Actor for his dual role in Sinners, beating out the season’s heavy favorite and telling the crowd, “I wasn’t expecting this at all.”
The medical drama The Pitt and the Hollywood satire The Studio dominated the television categories, with both shows winning the prestigious Best Ensemble trophies for their respective genres.
In a deeply emotional highlight, the late Catherine O’Hara was honored with a posthumous win for her work in The Studio, sparking a massive standing ovation from the star-studded audience.
Supporting honors went to Hollywood veteran Sean Penn for One Battle After Another and Amy Madigan, who was visibly shocked to win her first-ever guild award for Weapons.
Legendary star Harrison Ford was the man of the hour as he accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award, telling his fellow actors at the Shrine Auditorium that he was truly “humbled.”
With the Academy Awards just two weeks away, these surprise victories have turned a predictable season into a total “nail-biter” for Hollywood’s biggest night.
