Missy Elliott will lead a tribute to Aaliyah at the Essence Festival, celebrating 30 years since her second album “One in a Million” and 25 years since her self-titled final album.
The tribute is organized with the support of Aaliyah’s family, specifically her mother, Diane Haughton, and brother, Rashad Haughton, who have approved this homage to their late daughter and sister.

Elliott, who often referred to Aaliyah as her “little sister,” was a significant collaborator with Aaliyah, co-writing and producing several of her hits, and has consistently honored Aaliyah’s legacy over the years.
This year’s Essence Festival will also feature performances by artists including Cardi B, Latto, Brandy, Monica, and Kehlani, with various genres represented across the three-day event from July 3 to July 5.
