Allegations Reversed: Woman Recants Claims Against Jay-Z

A woman identified as Jane Doe, who accused Jay-Z of sexual assault at age 13, has fully recanted her allegations in a court declaration, stating she has never met him and that her claims were false.

In a 12-page declaration filed in Manhattan federal court, Doe affirmed, “Shawn ‘Jay-Z’ Carter never raped me,” and acknowledged that her false accusations had caused him significant harm.

Doe’s new lawyer, James Blair Newman Jr., clarified that while she maintains she was a victim of sexual assault, she was “entirely mistaken” to name Jay-Z in her allegations, stating he did not engage in any inappropriate conduct.

The initial lawsuit was filed in October 2024 against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, with Jay-Z added as a defendant in December 2024; both men denied the allegations from the start.

Doe’s lawyers voluntarily dismissed the lawsuit without a settlement in February 2025, although she later claimed intimidation was a factor in her decision to drop the case.

In her recent declaration, Doe stated she had not received any compensation for recanting her allegations, and her new lawyer confirmed she had disclosed certain mental health conditions to her previous legal team.

Jay-Z has expressed deep emotional distress over the allegations, describing feelings of anger and heartbreak in past interviews and emphasizing the importance of truth.

Jane Doe has been dismissed as a defendant in Jay-Z’s ongoing malicious prosecution lawsuit against her former lawyer, Tony Buzbee, who has denied any wrongdoing and insisted on believing Doe’s allegations during the initial legal proceedings.
