Akon was arrested in Chamblee, Georgia, on November 7th.
The arrest was due to an active warrant issued by the Roswell Police Department for failure to appear on a suspended license case.
Akon was originally cited on September 10th, when his Tesla Cybertruck broke down. He didn’t have valid insurance and had been driving with a suspended license since January 2023.
Chamblee police arrested Akon on the warrant during a routine interaction, and he was booked into DeKalb County Jail on November 7th, being released approximately six hours later after processing.
Authorities found an illegal vape during the Roswell stop, but no charges were filed in relation to it.
Akon has not made a public statement regarding the arrest.
