Beyoncé will co-chair the 2026 Met Gala, returning to the role for the first time in a decade.

Public relations expert Kayley Cornelius describes the phenomenon as the “Beyoncé effect,” noting her involvement will transform the gala into a cultural moment beyond just fashion.

The 2026 Met Gala theme is “Costume Art,” focusing on the relationship between the dressed body and art throughout 5,000 years of history.

Guests are encouraged to express their individual relationships with fashion as an embodied art form.
