Rare footage from 2001 featuring a young Beyoncé interacting with Michael Jackson has resurfaced, showcasing her as an emerging star before her solo career took off.
The footage was filmed for a reality project by Marc Schaffel, a friend of Jackson, but the series was ultimately scrapped following the 2003 raid on Jackson’s Neverland Ranch.
In the clip, Beyoncé, then 19 and still part of Destiny’s Child, is recording Jackson’s post-9/11 charity single “What More Can I Give” and expresses her excitement after learning Jackson is a fan.
Schaffel has compiled this archival footage into a potential three-part documentary series that he aims to sell to a streaming service.
The material provides fans a glimpse into Beyoncé’s early career and emphasizes the emotional impact of meeting a musical hero, highlighting how past experiences are perceived differently today.
