Brandy Norwood received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday, with the event proclaimed “Brandy Day” by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.

Issa Rae honored Brandy during the ceremony, expressing how the 1990s sitcom “Moesha” profoundly impacted her view of representation and ambition as a Black woman in the media.

Rae revealed that “Moesha” served as a pivotal inspiration for her own work, stating, “Without Brandy as ‘Moesha,’ there’s no ‘Parkers’, no ‘Girlfriends’, and no ‘Insecure.’”

Brandy reflected on her journey, describing the honor of a star on the Walk of Fame as a testament to her legacy, saying it represents enduring success and the fulfillment of her childhood dreams of fame.

The ceremony included tributes from notable figures, including Babyface, who praised Brandy’s exceptional vocal ability and heartfelt performances, recognizing her influence on music and beyond.

Throughout her career, Brandy has achieved significant milestones, including selling millions of albums, winning Grammy Awards, and breaking barriers as the first Black actress to portray Cinderella in a 1997 film.

Brandy expressed gratitude for the opportunities she has received over her lengthy career, acknowledging her roots as the daughter of a choir director and her early passion for singing, which has driven her success across various entertainment mediums.
