Mathew Knowles sparked controversy during a recent interview when he questioned what contributions his ex-wife, Tina Knowles, made to Destiny’s Child’s success.

Matthew asked host Kendis Gibson, “What work did she put in?”

Gibson, caught off guard by the question, quickly reminded Mathew that Tina was instrumental in the group’s early development, including hair styling, costume design, and overall image, leveraging her experience as a trained hairstylist and salon owner.

The tense exchange made it clear that while Mathew initially downplayed Tina’s contributions, he eventually acknowledged her role, stating, “OK, you’re absolutely right,” after Gibson elaborated on Tina’s efforts in styling and imaging.

The interview took an abrupt turn when Gibson, sensing the awkwardness, asked if he had said something wrong.

Mathew later expressed that the interview began on a “bad note,” referencing Gibson’s late arrival and suggesting that the focus should have remained on his promotion of the Destiny’s Child tribute concert rather than delving into Tina’s contributions.
