Eminem paid tribute to his late friend and D12 member Proof on the 20th anniversary of his death.
Em shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing that not a day goes by without thinking of Proof, calling him “one of the greatest friends” he ever had and emphasizing the impact Proof had on his life and career.
Eminem reminisced about the early days of their friendship when they met while he was handing out flyers and they rapped for each other.
He acknowledged that Proof’s belief in him significantly bolstered his self-esteem and opened doors in the hip-hop community, allowing others to listen to him without prejudice.
Eminem highlighted the importance of their shared experiences at clubs and open mics, where Proof’s credibility helped him gain respect and an audience.
Em added, “You will always be my best friend… Until we meet again.”
Proof, who would have turned 52 this year, tragically passed away in 2006 after being shot during a fight at a Detroit nightclub on 8 Mile Road.
