By Giancarlo Aulino In this Beyond The Game interview Correspondent Giancarlo Aulino speaks with Brad Shepard – Sports Journalist and host of pro wrestling podcast, Oh You Didn’t Know. Brad also contributed as NFL and WWE writer for BarnBurner – a Toronto based sports website. In this interview, we discuss the first few weeks of the NFL 2018-19 season, the New England Patriots, Baker Mayfield, and WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michael’s return. Giancarlo: Brad you contribute to barnburner.ca. For our listeners who may be unfamiliar with BarnBurner, how would you describe barnburner.ca’s website and podcasts? Brad: Barnburner.ca is just a really great source for sports news; professional sports, and we also have some big wrestling news as well; very high-level wrestling news. So I do a lot of that. I do a professional wrestling podcast with Joe Peisich every week and also I’m very focused on the NFL. I do a NFL Blitz podcast every week as well, all the latest up-to-date news on the NFL, previews of the games, just a lot of NFL stuff and WWE stuff right now. Giancarlo: In one of the podcasts you regularly contribute, you recap the week in the NFL on the NFL Blitz podcast. This season has been interesting to say the least - what team has stood out to you so far? Brad: Well a couple of teams have stood out to me. Obviously the Kansas City Chiefs; Patrick Mahomes right now is playing incredible and he’s just been an unstoppable part of the Kansas City offense. I think the Cleveland Browns with Baker Mayfield as quarterback have evolved into something a lot more exciting that’s definitely something to watch. I think the New England Patriots is a situation to watch to see if they’re able to recover, they certainly went 2-2 last season, they’re 1-2 now, week four coming up it’s going to be a very big weekend for the franchise. This season so we’ll see how that plays out and then I would say the LA Rams; my pick in the NFC to make the Super Bowl and certainly I think they’re just firing on all cylinders of the game right now. Giancarlo: You brought up the New England Patriots and you know Tom Brady, he’s been there done that, won multiple Super Bowls, him and Belichick. Are they at the end of their run in the NFL? Brad: Well, I certainly think they’re more at the end than they’re at the beginning. It’s a really interesting, fascinating situation and covering the Patriots as an actual Patriots fan who grew up in New England, you know I remember the years that the Patriots were not good at all for a very long time and now they’ve been good, so you know really, honestly, better than good just extremely good. But it’s kind of almost transitioning into that next stage, I know Tom wants to continue playing for a few years, there’s definitely been some tension in the ranks among Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.
