Jay-Z Re-Releases “Imaginary Players” Video After Cardi B’s Updated Version

Jay-Z knows how to capitalize on a moment.

Over the weekend, Hov re-released the video for his 1997 song, “Imaginary Players,” on his YouTube channel.

The drop took place a week after Cardi B released her version of “Imaginary Playerz.”

The original sample is from the 1981 track “Imaginary Playmates” by Rene & Angela.

Jay-Z personally approved Cardi’s use of the track for her forthcoming sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, due this month.

The re-release of Jay-Z’s music video has fueled speculation about Mr. Carter working on new material.

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years.
