Kyle Lowry officially announced his retirement from the NBA on July 7, 2026, after a legendary 20-year career.

Fulfilling a long-standing promise, the 40-year-old point guard signed a ceremonial one-day contract to retire as a member of the Toronto Raptors, the franchise where he spent his peak years and earned the moniker “Greatest Raptor of All Time” (GROAT).

Mayor Olivia Chow also proclaimed it “Kyle Lowry Day”

Kyle Lowry and his wife, entrepreneur and philanthropist Ayahna Cornish-Lowry, have also joined the Toronto Tempo ownership group! The announcement came immediately after Lowry’s retirement event with the Raptors
