Legendary Toronto Director R.T. Thorne Releases The Trailer For His Feature Film “40 Acres” Starring Danielle Deadwyler

Deadwyler Stars as a Fierce Matriarch Defending Her Family and Farm From Deadly Raiders in This Tense Post-Apocalyptic Action Thriller

Also starring Michael Greyeyes, Kataem O’Connor, Jaeda LeBlanc, Milcania Diaz-Rojas, and Leenah Robinson, 40 Acres had its world premiere last September at the Toronto International Film Festival where it received mostly positive reviews, including Variety calling it “a subversive siege thriller, full of fresh ideas.”

40 Acres is hitting theaters July 2nd.

DJ Mel Boogie

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years. Known for her contributions to community and music organizations, she made history as the DJ for the 2023 JUNO Awards’ tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, sharing the stage with Canadian icons like Kardinal Offishall, Michie Mee, and Choclair in a performance watched by 2.2 million viewers nationwide.

As chair of the JUNO Rap Advisory Board, MelBoogie has worked to amplify women’s voices in the industry. She also co-founded the Black Music Brunch with Maestro Fresh Wes, an annual event celebrating contributors to Black music in Canada.
