Lizzo is leaning into the internet’s reaction to her latest collaboration with Sexyy Red instead of pushing back against it.

After releasing the music video for “HOES,” a new track tied to the upcoming Scary Movie 6 soundtrack, fans online joked that the visual looked more like an Saturday Night Live sketch than a traditional music video.

Rather than taking offense, Lizzo jumped on social media to explain that the comparison was actually pretty accurate.

“Our video is a form of parody,” she wrote, adding that both her team and SNL create “high quality music videos.” Lizzo even said she felt “honored by the comparison.”

Produced by Hit-Boy, “HOES” pairs Lizzo’s theatrical style with Sexyy Red’s unapologetic energy. The video also features appearances from the Wayans brothers and continues building hype for Scary Movie 6, which marks the return of franchise favorites including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris, and Regina Hall.

If the goal was to create something funny, over-the-top, and conversation-worthy, it looks like Lizzo and Sexyy Red nailed it.
