Toronto has the highest population of Filipinos, for a major city, while Vancouver and Winnipeg have the second and third largest Filipino communities. The history of Asian immigration in Canada goes back to more than 150 ago, when Chinese workers arrived in the west coast to build the Pacific Railway in the mid-nineteenth century. These Asian Canadians not only contributed to building Canada physically, but also culturally, because they provided the country with a wide range of diversity and backgrounds. |
