Reggae music legend Jimmy Cliff, known for hits like “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “I Can See Clearly Now”, has passed away at the age of 81.
Latifa, Cliff’s wife, announced his death on his official Instagram page, revealing that he died from a seizure followed by pneumonia.
Latifa expressed gratitude to Cliff’s fans, family, friends, fellow artists, and medical team for their support during his illness.
Cliff rose to prominence in the music scene in the 1960s, leading a movement that involved other reggae up-and-comers Bob Marley, Toots Hibbert, and Peter Tosh.
Jimmy also had classics such as “Many Rivers to Cross” and “Vietnam.” He also starred in the landmark movie The Harder They Come.
Cliff was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.
