Snoop Dogg Biopic Finds Its Tupac Shakur in Camron Jones And Lauren London Will Portrays Snoop Dogg’s Mother

Lauren London will portray Beverly Tate, the mother of Snoop Dogg, in Universal’s upcoming biopic titled “Snoop,” scheduled for release on August 6, 2027.

The film, directed by Craig Brewer, showcases Snoop’s journey from Calvin Broadus Jr. to a music and cultural icon, while highlighting his family’s influence on his life and career.

Jonathan Daviss is set to star as Snoop Dogg, with Camron Jones playing Tupac Shakur, and Myles Bullock taking on the role of Dr. Dre.

Beverly Tate’s significant impact on Snoop is underscored by her role as a church choir director and her affectionate nickname for him, derived from the Peanuts character “Snoopy.”

The film is produced by Snoop Dogg, Sara Ramaker (Death Row Pictures), and Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum (Imagine Entertainment), and will feature music from Snoop’s extensive catalog.

This project marks the first film under Death Row Pictures’ overall deal with NBCUniversal Entertainment, demonstrating a strong commitment to hip-hop storytelling.

Brewer will direct based on a script rewrite of an original draft by Joe Robert Cole, known for his work on the “Black Panther” movies, indicating a blend of experienced creative talent behind the film.

Universal’s history with hip-hop biopics is noteworthy, having previously produced successful films like “Straight Outta Compton,” which achieved significant box office success and acclaim.
