Sterling K. Brown shared a memorable story of meeting Michelle Obama during a recent appearance on the IMO podcast hosted by Michelle Obama and Craig Robinson.
Brown recounted how he boldly asked her for a hug instead of a handshake at an event over a decade ago.
The encounter took place while Brown was filming “Army Wives,” and he described the hug as a deeply impactful moment, stating that Michelle “locked into him” and made him feel “loved and seen.”

Ryan Michelle Bathe, Brown’s wife, appeared visibly amused but also slightly annoyed during his storytelling, as it was not the first time he had recounted the event.
Brown attempted to lighten the situation for Bathe by suggesting that she could take her own photo with Michelle Obama after their interview to alleviate any jealousy.
The excitement peaked when Robinson presented Brown with a framed photo of the hug, prompting an ecstatic reaction from Brown, who joyfully celebrated the moment despite wearing a boot on his injured leg.
