The Weeknd Protects Young Fan Amid Concert Chaos

The Weeknd paused his recent concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, after noticing an older fan pushing a younger fan against the barricade at the front of the crowd.

During the incident, he expressed concern for the younger fan, identified as Katana, a cancer survivor from 2022 with whom he has maintained a close connection.

The Weeknd asked if Katana was okay, because fans were pressing her against the barricade. https://t.co/JC96ymarXT

This tour began in 2023, with the current Asian leg starting at the Belluna Dome in Tokorozawa, Japan, where he showcased a new song that samples Yoko Takahashi’s theme from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

The Weeknd featured Takahashi as a surprise guest during his Japan shows, where they performed the original theme together.

Following the Jakarta shows, The Weeknd is set to perform in multiple cities across Asia, including Goyang (South Korea), Bangkok (Thailand), Hong Kong, and Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

NOBETTERNINA

A hip-hop, R&B, and trap music junkie stuck in the 2000s/2010s ?. My journey into radio was inspired by 106 & Park, and my first concert ever was Hilary Duff (the variety is crazy, I know). My most-seen artists are Drake and Tory Lanez (8-10 times each), but my favorite artist of all time is Lil Wayne.

When I’m not on air, you can catch me on the field (playing soccer), taking a nap, at a concert, or indulging in pasta, tacos, and/or some form of chocolate.
