Kendrick Lamar, Leon Thomas And More Lead Rap And R&B Nominees For 2026 Grammy Awards

The Recording Academy unveiled their 2026 Grammy Award nominations on Friday (Nov. 7) at 11 a.m. ET, with Kendrick Lamar, Leon Thomas and Clipse being among the most-nominated Hip Hop and R&B nominees.

Kendrick Lamar leads the 2026 Grammy Award nominations with nine nods, including Album of the Year for GNX.

Clipse, Doechii and Tyler, The Creator each earned five nominations.

Leon Thomas is the only R&B act nominated for Best New Artist, also scoring a Best R&B Album nod for MUTT.

DJ Mel Boogie

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years. Known for her contributions to community and music organizations, she made history as the DJ for the 2023 JUNO Awards’ tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, sharing the stage with Canadian icons like Kardinal Offishall, Michie Mee, and Choclair in a performance watched by 2.2 million viewers nationwide.

As chair of the JUNO Rap Advisory Board, MelBoogie has worked to amplify women’s voices in the industry. She also co-founded the Black Music Brunch with Maestro Fresh Wes, an annual event celebrating contributors to Black music in Canada.
