Catherine O’Hara, a renowned actress known for her roles in Schitt’s Creek and Home Alone, passed away on Friday after a brief illness. She was 71.

E! News reports that O’Hara was transported to a Los Angeles hospital in “serious condition” on Friday morning before her death.

Eugene Levy, O’Hara’s longtime friend and co-star, expressed profound loss, honoring their shared 50-year career, which began with The Second City, SCTV, and multiple collaborations with Christopher Guest.

Levy highlighted the strong friendship they developed over decades, stating he would miss her dearly and offering condolences to O’Hara’s family, including her husband, Bo, and sons Matthew and Luke.

Dan Levy, Eugene’s son and a co-star on Schitt’s Creek, described O’Hara as “extended family” and celebrated her brilliance in their years of collaboration.

Macaulay Culkin, O’Hara’s on-screen son from the Home Alone films, shared a heartfelt tribute, expressing regret over the time lost and a desire for more moments with her.

O’Hara and Levy won Golden Globe awards for their performances as the Roses in Schitt’s Creek, demonstrating their successful partnership in both comedic and dramatic roles.
