During a speech at the dinner, Drake explained that he modeled the concept after a classic 2007–2008 Toronto networking event called “What Women Want,” originally created by local entrepreneur Shinae Ingleton.
He loved that the original event required men to work while women socialized, so he adopted that spirit to throw an elevated, upscale version meant to purely appreciate and empower Canadian women.
