A female tortoise named Leo escaped a shed fire in Fullerton, California by going into “sport mode” after a heat lamp tipped over and caught fire.

Hyeri Tom and her family were at a Super Bowl party when a neighbor noticed the fire and put it out.

Security footage captured Leo’s escape from the burning shed, showing her scurrying away and giving a “stink eye” to the camera.

Tom shared the video on social media to raise awareness about the dangers of heat lamps for reptiles, prompting other owners to share similar experiences.

Leo, a 3-year-old tortoise adopted by Tom’s family a month ago, suffered from mild smoke inhalation in the fire but is receiving treatment and is hanging in there.
