The California Supreme Court has rejected Tory Lanez’s petition to review his conviction in the shooting case involving Megan Thee Stallion, solidifying his 10-year prison sentence.
Lanez was found guilty in December 2022 on three felony charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence, with the sentence handed down in August 2023.

Megan Thee Stallion testified during the trial that Lanez shot her in the feet following an argument in July 2020 and stated she was offered $1 million to remain silent.
The appellate court’s ruling emphasized that there was “more than sufficient” evidence for jurors to conclude that Lanez caused great bodily injury to Megan.
During sentencing, the prosecution described the shooting as an act of misogyny driven by personal insult, while Lanez’s defense argued the incident stemmed from reckless behavior influenced by alcohol.
Lanez maintains his innocence and claims to have new evidence supporting his wrongful conviction, stating he wishes to communicate with Megan in person rather than through media.
He is currently incarcerated at California Men’s Colony, with eligibility for parole set for August 2029.
In January 2025, Megan was granted a restraining order against Lanez due to alleged online harassment directed from prison.
