Apple Introduces Its First Foldable Phone

Apple finally revealed its first foldable phone, called the iPhone Duo.

The new device officially debuted on Wednesday during a fall event in Cupertino.

The passport-sized phone features a titanium build and starts at $1,999 for a 256GB model.

Apple said it is the thinnest iPhone ever when opened, sporting a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen.

The device works with the Apple Pencil and relies on Touch ID rather than Face ID to unlock.

Apple said a new matte inner display reduces the folding crease and cuts down on screen reflections.

The phone packs a powerful A20 Pro chip alongside dual 48-megapixel cameras. Apple said users get up to 24 hours of battery life when using both screens equally.

Preorders begin on October 16th ahead of an October 23rd release date.

The launch officially throws Apple into a highly competitive foldable market against brands like Samsung, Google, and Motorola.
