Kawhi Leonard’s Big Return To Toronto But Says He’s Not Chasing Championships

Kawhi Leonard officially returned to the Toronto Raptors following the NBA’s approval of a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Clippers. The deal, which had been frozen since early July pending a league investigation into the Clippers’ financial practices, was finalized on September 14, 2026.

Raptors General Manager Bobby Webster expressed immense excitement about bringing back the 35-year-old superstar, stating that Leonard embodies the “championship mindset” the team values. Despite the drama surrounding the trade, Leonard is coming off a highly productive season where he averaged a career-high 27.9 points per game in 65 games. Reports indicate he is expected to sign an extension with Toronto shortly.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see him in action. The Raptors are scheduled to meet the Clippers in a Vancouver preseason game on October 10, before hosting them in Toronto for the regular season on January 1.
