Drake is officially heading to a university classroom this fall, as Concordia University in Montreal launches a 2026 course dedicated entirely to his career.

Titled “Drake: Media, Myth and Manhood,” the class will explore his extensive musical catalog, the rise of his OVO brand, and the broader music industry system.

Yassin Alsalman is teaching the syllabus and previously led a similar class focusing on Kanye West at the same university.

Alsalman said the course will examine the intersection of art and capitalism, and stated online that the class has “things to discuss.”

The coursework uses the OVO label as a case study, helping students dive into brand-building and the power struggles artists navigate within the industry.

The new class highlights a growing trend among academic institutions to treat individual hip-hop catalogs as serious subjects worthy of structured study.
