Erykah Badu and The Alchemist discussed their new collaborative album, Before The World Blows: The Abi and Alan Experiment, in a recent conversation with Ebro on Apple Music.

Badu revealed that using her middle name, Abi, was a deliberate choice meant to showcase a more vulnerable aspect of herself and to offer listeners a fresh perspective on her artistry.

She said that this approach allows the audience to transition from the familiar “Erykah Badu program” to the new “Abi and Alan program.”

The Alchemist emphasized that the album reflects both of their distinct artistic identities, indicating that neither artist overshadows the other in the creative process.

He noted, “You hear my DNA in it, you hear hers in it.”
