French Montana, movingly motivated by his own immigrant background and his father’s experience as a taxi driver, felt compelled to step in after seeing a viral video of the destruction.
Montana’s outreach began when he publicly called for help in finding Bitat and subsequently partnered with Zachery Dereniowski and the New York Taxi Workers Alliance to launch a GoFundMe campaign that quickly exceeded its $75,000 goal.
The GoFundMe campaign gathered significant support, with over 2,000 donations pouring in after Bitat’s story went viral.

During a conversation, Bitat expressed a desire to leave taxi driving behind due to the trauma of the incident, prompting Montana’s commitment to ensure that Bitat has financial support as he determines his next steps.
