Lauryn Hill will receive the inaugural Living Legend Icon Award at the 2026 BET Awards, recognizing artists who have “mastered their craft and never let go of the culture.”
Connie Orlando, EVP at BET, hailed Hill as the “very definition of a living legend,” emphasizing her profound influence on music and culture.
Hill gained fame as the leading member of the Fugees in the ’90s, known for hits like “Killing Me Softly” and “Ready or Not.”
Her solo album, “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill,” released in 1998, made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, containing iconic tracks and winning five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.
The 2026 BET Awards will air on June 28, 2026, at 8 p.m. PST, and will take place at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles.
