Along with receiving the coveted award, Mariah will also perform a career-spanning medley of her biggest hits, her first performance at the VMAs in 20 years.

Mariah, who famously doesn’t believe in the construct of age, will become the oldest recipient of the award at age 56.

The show will be hosted by LL Cool J and broadcast on CBS, MTV, and Paramount+ live on Sunday, September 7, from UBS Arena in New York.

Known for her iconic music videos, including “Honey,” “Heartbreaker,” “Obsessed,” “Touch My Body,” “Breakdown,” and her latest, “Type Dangerous,” Mariah has sold more than 220 million albums worldwide and earned 19 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, the most by any solo artist in history, and is just one shy of the all-time record held by The Beatles.

Mariah Carey’s 16th studio album “Here for It All” is set for release on Sept. 26.
