The hunt for a new Agent 007 is getting closer to casting…Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve has revealed his plans for the 26th James Bond film.

Deadline revealed that the casting process will begin in 2026, after the director completes production of Dune: Part Three.

The team behind Bond 26 is reportedly looking for a fresh face, an “unknown” younger actor, possibly in his late 20s or early 30s, who hails from Britain, staying true to the character.

His statement made it clear that it is very unlikely that an older or well-known A-list actor will portray Agent 007 in this upcoming spy movie.

That means that some fan-favorite picks like Timothee Chalamet and Glen Powell, and Idris Elba would be out of the running.

The report also suggests that Bond 26 will be a total reboot unrelated to No Time to Die, which ended with Daniel Craig‘s version of Bond killed off.

The next James Bond film is expected to premiere in 2028, with filming set to commence in 2027.
