Get into the holiday spirit, if you haven’t already, with these five budget friendly (under $30) events in the GTA. December 9 – Chanukah Wonderland On December 9, celebrate the last day of Chanukah with Chanukah Wonderland at the Schwartz/Reisman Centre Lebovic campus, located 9600 Bathurst St in Maple, Ontario. There will be carnival games, prizes, crafts and activities, rides, live music, performances by a juggler, a clown, and an amusing magic show. Admission is only $5. December 15 – Festivus 2018 If you don’t celebrate Christmas, do not to worry - there is Festivus for the rest of us. The Toronto Gaymerswill host Festivus 2018 at the Centre for Social Innovation, located 720 Bathurst St in Toronto. This annual holiday party, scheduled for December 15 (5pm-10pm), will feature video games, prizes, food (provided by Afghan Women’s Catering Group), and alcoholic beverages. Also, all outside food/potluck is encouraged. Tickets are priced at $25. December 21 – Albanian Holiday Party Have some holiday fun at the Albanian Holiday Party inside & Company Resto Bar and Nightclub, located 295 Enfield Place in Mississauga. DJ Viss & Andy Gruuve will set the holiday scene playing the best in Albanian and English music. All the fun begins at 10pm on December 21, and you must be at least 19 years of age to enter. Tickets are for priced $15 online or $20 at the door. Running until December 23, Toronto’s only holiday fair combines a Christmas marketplace with a winter carnival. You can purchase hand-crafted items at the Artisan Village, indulge in festive treats, say cheers at Polar Point with alcoholic beverages from around the world, visit Santa, be entertained with diverse performances, and have thrills at the Holly Jolly Midway. There is fun for everyone and best of all, the holiday fair is FREE! Ends January 6 – A Nutcracker Christmas at Casa Loma A Nutcracker is a traditional symbol of Christmas. Until January 6, experience the tradition with A Nutcracker Christmas at the Castle - at Casa Loma (located 1 Austin Terrance). Watch the castle transform into a Christmas wonderland with exciting performances such as illusionist Professor Wick and ice skaters Glisse on Ice. Children can participate in Santa’s castle workshop creating arts and crafts, and decorate tasty treats. Also, each night, from December 17-23, witness the holiday magic with a dazzling lighting display.
