By Daniella English Social distancing. Self-isolation. Quarantine. These words are now a part of our daily vocabulary. But the effects and ramifications of these practices can often leave us feeling distant and depressed. How do we balance our mental well being with that of our physical health? Here are FIVE ways to help you find that balance and manage your mental health to beat the COVID-19. 1. Take a Tech Break 2. Take Care of Your Body Taking care of your body goes hand in hand with taking care of your mind. Try pausing for deep breaths every so often, stretch, get up and walk if you can. Eating healthy can be hard when you’re binging on Netflix but try and keep healthy eating patterns going. Your body will be grateful you did. 3. Make Time To Unwind 4. Connect With Others 5. Make Sure You 'Hear It Right' During these times, it’s important to get accurate information from credible sources. There is fake news everywhere and it contributes to fear mongering and the sense of doom. Make sure your news is coming from reputable sources such as the Government of Canada’s website, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention(CDC) and the World Health Organization. Staying properly informed and up to date with the right information can offer security in a time of uncertainty. It’s important we take care of our mental health, just like we do our physical health during these unprecedented times and stay safe and healthy!
