By Aaron Zaretsky As a Toronto Blue Jays fan I am still stunned that former Jays pitcher Roy “Doc” Halladay is no longer with us. He was one of my childhood idols. I saw him pitch countless times at Rogers Centre. Minutes before the start of every game the song “Bad Case of Loving you” by Robert Palmer would come on. © greggabdgeorge92 | YouTube When I was 11 years old, I was walking the Rogers Centre concourse and saw Halladay signing autographs. I rushed over, glanced at his tall 6’6 stature seeing greatness before my eyes. I asked for his autograph, and he signed my ticket. This following ticket is from a game that I saw Halladay pitch in Toronto for the final time. In classic “Doc” fashion, he won throwing a complete-game shutout.
Halladay was 40 years old. Thank you for the memories. R.I.P. Thoughts and prayers to his family. |
