By Kassandra Sharma (@_kassandrasabrina) It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic is something none of us could anticipate. For a short while there, it seemed like it wouldn’t have become the beast that it is today. It seems that it is becoming an increasingly difficult task to stay stimulated for those of us responsible and practicing social distancing by staying at home. Luckily, there are still a few ways you can try and retain a sense of normalcy or escapism at the very least during self-isolation. Here are five easy and accessible recommendations. 1) Read, Read, Ready! This one is for my fellow bookworms or the individual looking to dip their toes into a new adventure. There are many shops that are still delivering to your door like Chapters and Book Outlet. You could also try Audible if that’s more your speed; they offer a free first month trial to test the waters. Don’t know where to begin? Goodreads is a great place to start - they have lists for every genre in their “Listopia”. From books that should be made into movies, and best novels of the 20th century, to best releases of the current month or simply just the top romances books. Whatever tickles your fancy, they’ve got a list to help you explore. 2) Couch Concerts for the Music Junkies It is unfortunate, but appropriate that all concerts and festivals have been postponed. I’ve been excited for a few myself, but not to worry! Many artists have been holding online concerts that you can check out. From Diplo to Cold War Kids, you can jam out from the comfort of your own couch. Check out Billboard’s list here for continually updated dates and times. 3) Periscope 4) Quick & Easy Recipes Spice things up with a new recipe. So, we can’t go out for a nice meal at a restaurant but there are so many great and easy recipes available online right now that make even the fanciest of delicacies look like a piece of cake. Tasty has a large selection of delectable delights that only need three ingredients each! Check out the list here. 5. Get Crafty |
