Both “Avengers: Doomsday” and “Dune: Part Three” are set to premiere in theaters on December 18th, 2026.
Robert Downey Jr., who returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Doom, coined the term “Dunesday” for this simultaneous release in a playful exchange with Timothée Chalamet during a screening event for Chalamet’s film “Marty Supreme.”

The idea of “Dunesday” draws parallels to the successful “Barbenheimer” phenomenon involving the releases of “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer,” which saw both films benefit from shared marketing and audience attraction.
There is excitement for both blockbusters, with fans hopeful that each film will perform well at the box office.
