The singer maintained her independence despite ties to both artists, choosing not to take sides in the rap beef.

Her decision to keep performing “Rich Baby Daddy” highlights her focus on artistry over controversy.

Also, SZA doesn’t know how the beef between her and Nicki Minaj began.

Back in July, Nicki went off on SZA after alleged comments. Nicki called SZA “ugly,” “fat, chubby,” and “sounding like a dead dog.”

She said, “I don’t know her. We have no connection to each other. There’s no backstory. Like, there was no through-line narrative. It was just like, ‘Roc Nation’…. I don’t know where it came from.”

SZA continued, “That’s not even my place to correct a narrative that I don’t got sh*t to do with. It was a little strange. It was very like, ‘Why?’ But also, you know, ‘I guess.’”
