The Weeknd Shut Out of Grammy Consideration after Reconciliation With Recording Academy

The Weeknd didn’t pick up a nomination for the upcoming Grammys.

The ironic situation comes months after The Weeknd ended his Grammy boycott and performed at the awards ceremony earlier this year.

The artist’s most recent album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, was submitted for multiple nominations but was shut out.

The Weeknd’s history with the Grammy Awards includes a previous boycott in 2021 after being overlooked for nominations for his album After Hours.

The Recording Academy and The Weeknd reconciled in 2025, leading to the artist’s performance at the 67th Grammy Awards and a statement from Harvey Mason Jr., the CEO of The Recording Academy, about changes made in response to The Weeknd’s criticisms about alleged corruption and transparency.

Hailing from Toronto, DJ MelBoogie is one of Canada’s most renowned female DJs, with a career spanning over 30 years. Known for her contributions to community and music organizations, she made history as the DJ for the 2023 JUNO Awards’ tribute to 50 years of hip-hop, sharing the stage with Canadian icons like Kardinal Offishall, Michie Mee, and Choclair in a performance watched by 2.2 million viewers nationwide.

As chair of the JUNO Rap Advisory Board, MelBoogie has worked to amplify women’s voices in the industry.
