Google Maps Adds New AI Feature To Help Navigate

Google Maps is introducing a new AI-powered feature called “Ask Maps” that can answer complex, real-world questions with personalized responses.

The Ask Maps feature allows users to describe their plans in a conversational way, providing as much or as little detail as they want.

Gemini will sift through the query to provide detailed responses, often using personal details from past interactions with Google Maps.

The responses generated by Gemini will rely solely on data from Google Maps, and not from other Google apps like Gmail, ensuring personalized information based on previous searches and interactions within Maps or Google Search.

Google is also launching a new feature called “Immersive Navigation” in Google Maps, which enhances the navigation experience with refreshed colors, detailed 3D buildings, realistic terrain, and dynamic zooming to highlight critical road information.

Immersive Navigation will provide explanations for route suggestions, highlight key road features such as lanes and traffic lights, and offer details about parking or walking directions upon reaching the destination.
