Method Man rejected Drake’s “Wu-Tang Forever” remix because he didn’t like the song and felt it had nothing to do with Wu-Tang Clan’s legacy.
During an appearance on the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, Meth said, “I like Drake. I think he’s a dope artist, he puts out some great music obviously — otherwise he wouldn’t be as big as he is.”
He added, “But when he sent the record, we were overseas. And you know, some brothers were trying to write to it, and I’m sitting there like, ‘I don’t like it.’ I was like, ‘What does this have to do with Wu-Tang Forever?’
Meth continued, “I’m not questioning his artistic ability or anything. I’m just saying, from my [perspective], it was more or less like, ‘I’m not getting on that.’”
U-God had previously said he did not participate in the remix because of a disagreement over subject matter.
U-God said, “I guess we kinda came too hard for him. He wanted us to talk about broads but at the time we weren’t in no broad mode. We were hard-body at the time.”
