A Michael Jackson-signed script from his guest appearance on “The Simpsons” was sold at Propstore’s Animation Art Live Auction for an estimated $4,000 to $6,000.

The lot included the shooting script for the episode “Stark Raving Dad,” which premiered Season 3 on September 19, 1991, along with an original hand-painted cel of Homer and the character Leon Kompowsky, and a rare table draft from November 8, 1990.

Sam Simon, who co-developed “The Simpsons,” held these items until they were consigned by his estate.

In 2019, the episode “Stark Raving Dad” was removed from all TV airings, streaming services, and physical releases following the airing of the documentary “Leaving Neverland,” which details allegations of sexual abuse against Jackson by Wade Robson and James Safechuck.

Jackson himself initiated the appearance on “The Simpsons” due to his love for the show, calling creator Matt Groening to request a cameo.

He was billed as “John Jay Smith” because his record deal prevented an official credit.

He voiced the character Leon, a hospital patient who believes he is Michael Jackson, while Kipp Lennon provided the character’s singing voice.

Jackson also contributed to the episode by composing the song “Happy Birthday Lisa,” known colloquially as “Lisa, It’s Your Birthday.”
