Hugh Laurie is channeling his inner Doctor House to shut down a vocal critic on social media.

A viral tweet from a freelance journalist recently slammed his classic medical drama for being far too repetitive and formulaic.

The critic complained that almost every episode simply features House getting the diagnosis wrong twice before a last-minute miracle saves the dying patient.

Laurie quickly fired back with his character’s famous sarcasm. He joked that they actually tried having him guess correctly the first time, but the episodes were only six minutes long.

He defended the show’s massive eight-season run by comparing it to classic art. He called the predictable structure intentional “variations on a theme.”

Laurie finished off the clever defense with a sharp parting shot. He completely dismissed the critic by saying, “Nonetheless, I look forward to your first novel!”
