T-Pain is clearing the air about his initial reaction to Jay-Z’s 2009 hit song, “D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune).”

In a recent interview, T-Pain admitted he originally took the track as a personal attack, saying he felt targeted as the face of the vocal technology.

He revealed the public backlash was intense, prompting him to record an unreleased diss track after fans heckled him at a Las Vegas show.

T-Pain said he eventually realized the song was not a direct shot at him, but a critique of other artists overusing his style.

After understanding the true meaning behind the lyrics, T-Pain said he publicly apologized, and the two cleared up the misunderstanding.

Jay-Z later clarified he respected the singer’s talent and only intended to challenge the music industry.

T-Pain concluded by stating he remains proud of his musical legacy and has no plans to abandon his iconic sound.
